What the Waters Left Behind {2017}
« on: January 08, 2017, 10:59:09 PM »

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6332764/

"Los Olvidados" / What the Waters Left Behind " ended its filming in December and is currently in the post-production stage. The film was winner of the First Fantasy Film Competition organized by INCAA (National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts). It is directed by brothers Luciano and Nicolás Onetti, who enjoy cult status in particular in Europe and the United States thanks to their films Sonno Profondo (2014) and Francesca (2015)

On this occasion, they leave the influence of the Italian horror of the seventies and face a story that has more ties with the classic slasher with undoubted referents to films as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre or The Hills Have Eyes.

"Los Olvidados / What Waters Left Behind" has a cast of young figures led by Agustín Pardella, Victoria Maurette, Victorio D'Alessandro, Paula Brasca, Paula Sartor and Tamara Garzón, accompanied by great figures such as Mirta Busnelli, Gustavo Garzón, Chucho Fernández, Germán Baudino, Damián Dreizik and the American actor Evan Leed.

In the story, a group of young people depart to the ruins of Epecuén to film a documentary about the fateful events that erased the map that city in the eighties. But they will come across a series of terrible characters that will show them that there are worse things than death.
Epecuén was an important tourist villages of Argentina due to the healing properties of its hot springs. On November 10, 1985, an enormous stream of water broke the embankment that protected the city, being submerged under ten meters of salt water. Epecuén disappeared.

Thirty years later the water withdrew and the ruins emerged leaving a desolate landscape exposed. The settlers never returned.

You are right. I had also forgotten that I had made the thread of this movie at the beginning of the year. I found it:
