The Naziexploitation Appreciation Thread ~
« on: September 11, 2013, 02:08:11 PM »
The basic characteristic of the Nazi Explotation as subgenre is to focus on recreating extremely sadistic and grotesque situations of violence and sex acclimated in concentration camps, and bringing each and every situation to the extreme.

The historical accuracy and reliability are usually neglected, opening the field to exaggeration, the grotesque and sometimes the total ridiculous.

More than political or ideological argumentation complaint, in this subgenre usually have just a fascination of the grisly and sadistic, probably unpalatable to the spectator ill-informed, but of great esteem for lovers of strong emotions, the politically incorrect, and why not, to the bizarre.

Some movies representatives of this subgenre:

Love Camp 7 (1969) directed by Lee Frost.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063242/

The film is about a women's prison camp, forced to satisfy the sexual demands of the German military who want to relax and enjoy before returning to the front lines.

The camp is led by a sadistic commander who subjected the detainees to beatings, degrading gynecological revisions and several humiliations.

In the concentration camp, two infiltrators sent by the Allies try to contact the Jewish daughter of a scientist, which has vital information. The goal is to run away with her with the help of the French Resistance. But things will get pretty complicated and unpleasant for the girls.

Love Camp 7 is a violent film and at times sadistic, but far from the levels of cruelty to which other films would arrive later.

Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS (1975) Directed by Don Edmonds.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071650/

The dominant figure of the film is Ilsa (Dyanne Thorne) the lush and beautiful guardian of a Nazi concentration camp in which subjected to men, but especially women, to sadistic and cruel tortures along with grotesque medical experiments.

Ilsa has two concerns in mind: first: make brutal experiments to discover how much pain can endure a woman and to help the German army.

The second is to find a man with enough capacity to quench her insatiable sexual appetite for sex.

The Nazi fetishism reached its summit and Ilsa showed that Nazism could have a very stimulating sexy side, although many find hard to admit.

The Night Porter (1974) Directed by Liliana Cavani.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071910/

Without being a film of the genre itself, showing very few concentration camp scenes and without resorting to fun and lurid scenes.

The Night Porter tells the story of a survivor of a concentration camp (Charlotte Rampling) who years later, she comes upon a Nazi officer who was her torturer (Dick Bogarde) who works as a night porter. Both revive a  story  of love/ hate that will end up tragically.

Stockholm Syndrome (identification / sexual attraction of a victim with the perpetrator and vice versa) is the basis of this film. In fact, the intention of the film seems to be to demonstrate that from certain extremely traumatic events can not turn back.

Salon Kitty (1976) Directed by Tinto Brass.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075163/

One of the inspiring muses of the genre.

The film is based on a true story: in 1939 Walter Schellenber, head of the intelligence service of the SS, created a brothel called Salon Kitty usual to spy on customers, figures of the Nazi party, and Italian diplomats.

The aim was to ascertain the true thoughts and opinions of those characters, in the long nights of sex and alcohol. To do this, twenty prostitutes were recruited and indoctrinated. The brothel was run by Kitty Schmidt.

SS Experiment Love Camp (1976) Directed by Sergio Garrone.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074768/

The story of the film is as follows: In a Nazi concentration camp are recruited to various and beautiful female prisoners, in order to perform several experiments with them.

In addition, Colonel Von Kleiben (Giorgio Cerioni), who commands the place, has a personal goal: receiving a testicles transplant to regain lost vigor due to a failed rape.

But other experiments seem to make more sense. To improve the Aryan race, experiments are performed  which continually failing causing the death of women. But the experiment more rugged and accomplished, is to transplant testicles. After several sexual tests, Colonel Von Kleiben meets an Aryan soldier for the experiment: the  sergeant Kruben. The operation is filmed in extreme close-up and very accomplished scene.

Eventually the sergeant, while trying to have sex with his mistress , he realizes that "something" does not work, then will come the bloody revenge.

Deported Women of the SS Special Section (1976) Directed by Rino Di Silvestro.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074395/

The story of the film focuses on Herner Herr attempts to conquer / subdue a beautiful prisoner named Tania. The action takes place in a concentration camp in which they have assembled a group of prisoners to determine their final destination.

Again, we have the love affair between a German soldier and a prisoner: but they here are discovered and Herner forces them to have sex in front of the entire camp. Both will be joined into a deadly kiss, swallowing cyanide pills. Sad scene and very successful.

SS Lager 5: L'inferno delle donne (1977) aka SS Camp 5: Woman's Hell Directed by Sergio Garrone.

 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0147310/

Second film of Sergio Garrone shot with most of the same actors and almost simultaneous with SS Experiment Love Camp.

The originality of this time is that the protagonist is a Jamaican. Again, women are chosen to be subjected to a series of experiments (always beautiful and young).

Very weak film and significantly lower than the previous one.

Casa Privata Per Le SS aka Private House of the SS-SS Girls (1977) Directed by Bruno Mattei.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083017/

The story is the same as Salon Kitty: The Commander Hans Schellenberg, assigned the task of recruiting ten women and turn them into sex machines at the service of the 3rd Reich, with the same goal in Salon Kitty: finding possible traitors. All with the help of Madame Eva (Macha Merill) and Dr. Jurgen (Luciano Pigozzi).

Private.House.of.the.SS.1977 Trailer

Kaput Lager - Gli ultimi giorni delle SS aka Achtung! The Desert Tigers (1977) Directed by Luigi Batzella.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0123934/

In Kaput Lager: Giorni Ultimi gli degli SS, we have a blend of war film, set in Africa invaded by the Germans.

A group of American and British soldiers attacks a German base but they are captured. They will end up in a concentration camp commanded by Commander Von Stolzen seconded by Dr. Lessing (sort of the Italian Ilsa), but without the charm of Dyanne Thorne.

There, several situations will occur until the soldiers manage to escape. But will not be so simple ... Sadism, sex and some blood. We also have castration, beatings and humiliation, and spanking session a corpse.

The Gestapo's Last Orgy (1977) Directed by Cesare Canevari.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074569/

A classic of the genre and one of the best without any doubt. On the basis of The Night Porter. Canevari created a gruesome and very raw film, totally exploitative but far superior to many of the other films of the genre.

Supported by a good quality camera work, very good performances and decent production values.

One scene involves a dinner between field commanders. A sadistic man they call "professor" slides a sinister theory: the best way to exploit the Jews is ... devour them. Frightened, a beautiful young Jewish maid faints. The Nazis have no better idea than to strip her and place her in a large pan, sprinkle jer with brandy and burn her alive, while laughing out loud. Finally, they put together an orgy and we seehow a nazi have sex with a Jewish Nazi as he plays with a charred body.

La svastica nel ventre aka Nazi Love Camp 27 (1977) Directed by Mario Caiano.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0140588/

The film, again, follow the steps of Salon Kitty and The Night Porter: a beautiful German - Jewish girl of name Hanna falls in love with a German soldier, she is captured and sent to a concentration camp, where she will be forced to sleep with German soldiers and witness horrifying situations.

Nothing new. The film goes through the usual channels of the genre without highlighting except for a couple of scenes.

KZ9 - Lager di Sterminio (1977) aka  Women's Camp 119-SS Directed by Bruno Mattei.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074729/

In a camp of experimentation and extermination a medical pathologist is obliged to collaborate in the gruesome experiments that are held there. In the same situation is Dr. Meisel.

In KZ9: Lager di sterminio we have no brothel as Salon Kitty. However there are many scenes of sex and nudity, and occur in a context ruthless and sinister.

Le lunghe notti della Gestapo (1977) aka The Red Nights of the Gestapo (1977) Directed by Fabio De Agostini.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076337/

In 1941, Rudolph Hess flies to England to make a peace treaty on their own, which is taken as a betrayal. Then the Gestapo orders his right hand, Colonel Werner von Uhland to perform a party that brings together all senior military and civilian powerful that conspire against Hitler.

Uhland recruits different women (including a sadomasochistic and nymphomaniacs) to encourage sexually the meeting, especially chosen according to the tastes of the conspirators. After an orgy of sex and death, the Gestapo exterminate everyone.

Despite good intentions, the film stands very little and is too repetitive in the continual reference to Salon Kitty.

The Beast in Heat (1977) Directed by Luigi Batzella

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076649/

Last film of the genre and certainly the most shameless.

In his second film of the genre, Luigi Batzella decided to mix drama, action, explicit gore, sex and comedy. All this, exploiting the image of Ilsa. The result was a freak but far superior to his previous movie of the genre.

The story is as follows: Ellen Kratsch, a sexy and sadistic Nazi doctor as Ilsa, created a human beast through the injection of aphrodisiacs. The beast brutally rapes and murders beautiful girls who are thrown into his cage. Meanwhile, the German army combat resistance.

Shockwaves is Zombies...technically not even Nazis as they were violent criminals experimented on then arguably then had a uniform put on after the process that changed them into what they are.

AS for Hostel, I only saw the first one like a very long time ago and if my memory serves me correctly I don't believe there was any reference to Nazism in it, swastika or or Nazi silly business in it.

Been thinking on the whole Nazi thing for the past couple of days strangely enough and with what they eventually did. Deep down I feel all that killing was about occultism and any anti-semtism was introduced to people susceptible to it to help this cause. I'm no encyclopaedia splatica though...they had cool uniforms  :nerdyembarassed:

That is a brilliant write up, nice one!

I haven't seen too many Naziploitation films, only The Gestapo's Last Orgy. But I definitely wanted to check out the Ilsa films and a few more of the like Beat in Heat, and Love Camp 7.

Cheers!

Nice thread, for an often misunderstood sub genre, which while unfairly maligned, actually genuinely attempts to earnestly express the horrors of man's inhumanity to... nah, who am I kidding, the nazisploitation sub genre is vile, obscene and above all else jaw droppingly tasteless, which is why I'm such a fan :D

I'm a big fan of Ilsa, Last Orgy and Women's Camp 119 in particular, and also  the awesomely titled Deported Women of the SS Special Selection which is quite a solid entry into the sub genre.
Avoid at all costs the contemporary nazisploitationer Blitzkrieg: Escape From Stalag 69 (2008)
It should be called Shitzkrieg badum-tish! :D
Hey look at that! She's not crazy she's being chased by a cheetah!
