A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014) ~

Quote
In the Iranian ghost-town Bad City, a place that reeks of death and loneliness, the townspeople are unaware they are being stalked by a lonesome vampire.

"A Girl Walks Home Alone" has solid performances and is sheltered by a magnificent photograph in black and white wrapping each scene, and a great soundtrack that helps deploy sublimely these cross stories,... stories based on frustration that afflict to several characters from the small Iranian town of Bad City.

One element that stands out is the careful composition of the scenes, which creates a hypnotic and captivating atmosphere that fits perfectly into the story that is being told. It thus creates a small universe apart,  and I can not help thinking about Only Lovers Left Alive' (2013)by Jim Jarmusch which also it offered an unusual (and very different) vision of the vampire myth.

But back to the story, the scenario is Bad city as its name clearly implies, isn't a good city, a city inhabited by men consumed by their past, a city inhabited by vitiated criminals, a seedy city, a city of poor hearts.

There lives Arash, a man trying to make a living with difficulty, but his prospects are frustrated again and again because he lacks support in which sustain, we can say many things about him, but mostly he's just a dreamer (Like many of us...aren't we?). But at night, someone else lurks, another creature of the night, different, which seems in fact need the night, a girl on jihad and striped shirt, hidden in the shadows, stalking other creatures. The girl and Arash are found in the most absurd manner, Arash pretending to be what she could be, and she sees something different about him, a dreamer.

Anyway, I do not want to do this too long, it's just that I get carried away by what this film caused me. I loved it.

Watched this a few months ago at a festival...thought it was a great piece of art.  Definitely worth the watch...in fact i just bought the dvd for my wife for Christmas.  I was really impressed with the writer/director and have been enjoying some of her other shorts like "A Little Suicide".

Oh .. I have not seen any of her shorts, but I will have to. Also the synopsis from A Little Suicide says:" In a world where people hate you without exception and kill you mercilessly, it's no wonder this cockroach is suicidal."
