Lord Of Tears
Quote
Lord of Tears tells the story of James Findlay, a school teacher tortured by childhood memories of a strange and unsettling entity - a figure dressed like a Victorian gentleman but with the head of an Owl, and elongated limbs with sharp claws.

It took the boy years to recover from his vision, years of forgetting before he could resume a normal life into adulthood. He might never have remembered had it not been for the death of his mother... the nightmares... the return of that familiar, watching presence.

As James faces a descent into madness, his only hope to fight his tormentor, to banish the evil that haunts him, is to return to his childhood home. He travels to the lonely mansion in the Scottish Highlands, a place notorious for its tragic and disturbing history. There, he must uncover, once and for all, the chilling truth behind the immortal stalker.

Lord of Tears[/i] is a supernatural horror film based around the mythology / ye olde English pagan tradition and the more modern one of the Slender Man. As well as influences from Lovecraftian Lore. We have an accursed estate with a mysterios Owl headed figure...known by the production crew as Owly  :yay: ...terrorising the occupants of the estate.

extremehorrorcinema.com REALLY got behind this production and naturally wish well to Lawrie Brewster and the people behind him that this does well. From what he has stated he wants to develop his production company Dark Films  into the like of the original Hammer Films of it's heyday. From what we see of the trailer and posters I am sure he will achieve is cinematic romance of being able to start a new tradition of quality British horror films.

Fairly interested in this one. I do really hope it has a twist ending, as from what I've read it's supposed to be similar to The Wicker Man.

I can't help but think it's gonna turn out bad though, like it will be cool and slow-burning and atmospheric, and the ending will have no payoff. Please no cheesy over-used plot where the protagonist thinks he's finally killed the Owlman, and at the very end, *DUN!* he's still alive. That's not a fucking twist.

Wow, this looks like some wicked imagery. I'm seriously going to keep my eye on this one. I hope it doesn't take as long as Frankenstiens War.

Agreed man, it does look amazing. Not entirely sure of a release date but if you pledge you will get it much sooner...obviously http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lawriebrewster/lord-of-tears (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lawriebrewster/lord-of-tears) Personally I feel it will really be worth it! Plus naturally, like wooden, I like to help these guys out....you know, Indie/UG film makers who REALLY have to go the hard yards!

This will be the third or forth film maker I have helped out financially and I plan to continue this.

You know, I'm getting more skeptical of this film as time goes on. It would be great to at least have 1-2 reviews from critics or even just the general population would they be able to see this film.

I'm going to assume that when a lot of people like me first saw the kickstarter for this film and the headline of "Slenderman meets Lovecraft" they expected a damn lot. Maybe the general idea of Lord of Tears is like those two things, but both Lovecraftian horror and Slenderman carry a lot more horror implications. I'm very skeptical Lord of Tears will be able to pull it off.

Maybe it will, but there is a lot of hype about this film and I think people really expect a lot, maybe too much. But with no one having seen the film yet, I just feel I might not like it but will have to force myself to like it more because I invested emotionally and monetarily in it, as have others.

Guess we'll see..

I never knew what Slenderman was until after I already pledged money. It just looks like a great atmospheric film. As for reviews, I never read them.

They are generally written by people who have their own head up their ass. And just because they don't like a film, doesn't mean you wont. No one has the exact same tastes. We all love movies, we know others hate.

I'm in the same boat as you little brother in that I just was grabbed by this project and not knowing the whole heritage behind Slenderman. I dropped quite a bit into this one.

Not long now before the release...really pumped for all the goodies I am getting along with something else  ;)

Yeah wish I could go to that Ball as well, think it would be an amazing night and I believe Owly will make an appearance which would be BLOODY cool!

The people behind it seem really cool too. I had a good discussion with the director until he said it was 2am and he needed sleep. lol

He has a lot of respect for the horror genre and wants to make a splash with something different. And something a lot more story driven. I'm up for that.

I wish them all the best, I can't remember the date but I know it's next month. I'm sure we'll get Emails before they ship.

Can't wait to see EHC in the credits!!! Thanks to you Splatty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yay

Here is the latest update from Lord of Tears....

Project Update #10: Lord of Tears - July Update!
Quote
Good morning/afternoon/evening/night ladies and gents!

Sarah here (the writer) :)

So time has marched on as it is wont to do and here we are in July (yikes!). I figured I would give you all a good old-fashioned update on the progress of Lord of Tears and its associated goodies!

Lawrie has been holed up in his post-production bunker working hard on making the film the best it can possibly be. Thanks to all of your incredible support which went way above and beyond what we could have hoped for, we have been able to do a huge amount of extra work to the film. The additional funding has allowed us to shoot some really nice extra footage, to get our hands on new super fancy software to get the film looking slicker than ever and to spend more time on sound design and visual effects, as well as lots more! I’ve been sneaking peeks over Lawrie’s shoulder in the spare room sweatshop and I can tell you that Lord of Tears is shaping up to be something really special, packed full of beautiful creepiness and at least 50% more Owl Man :)

Meanwhile I have been working on the film’s soundtrack, compiling all the excellent pieces from the film’s score by Craig Sutherland and Andy McDonald along with dark soundscapes featuring the owl man’s disturbingly poetical dialogue. I’ve also produced 5 brand new songs with composer Yousef Khalil. So, expect a collection brimming with gothic delights!
Lawrie and I have also both been working on what looks to be an EPIC digital Production Diary. Lawrie has written an entertaining personal recap of our experiences on the shoot, and I’ve been working on an Owl Man short story set ten years after the film ends. (So don’t read it before you watch!)

We’ve also begun planning our Lord of Tears Halloween Ball event which I’m very excited about. (But what to wear?!) We went to see the ballroom at the beautiful Balbirnie, which I am pleased to report is exceptionally swish – the dance floor even lights up all twinkly-like! So far, we’ve got folk coming from all over the UK and as far afield as France – do let us know if you plan to attend too – we’d love to see you there! (Remember that each purchase of the Collector’s Edition DVD gets you ONE FREE TICKET to the event –regular tickets will be on sale soon or you can still buy additional Collector’s Editions at www.lordoftears.com (http://www.lordoftears.com)!)

As you may remember, we originally set an approximate delivery date of July, but I’m afraid we’re running just a little behind because of the extra work we're doing to the film. We don’t foresee a delay of more than a few weeks but will keep you all posted on progress! Rest assured that every day we go over is being devoted to making the film the absolute best it can be.
When the time comes we’ll be in touch regarding sizes/colours from those of you who have ordered T-Shirts and will also give you all an opportunity to change your delivery address if needs be.

In the meantime, watch this space for more updates! And feel free to say hello and get involved on our Facebook page too!
Have a great week and thanks again to all of you for your incredible support! It has made the world of difference. We absolutely couldn’t have done it without you.

Sarah
xx

And so work goes on! Right now I'm looking at a finished copy of the film and I'm darn excited for you to all get a chance to see it! Meanwhile I've got a graphic artist (Gavin Robertson) working with me this week on some very intense mysterious occult artwork for the packaging. At the same time I'm working on a number of video extras, these include commentaries, deleted scenes, and a BTS documentary/interview.

We'll also be finalising T-Shirt Designs this week and look forward to sharing more details of that too!

So the stage we're really at is making sure that all the 'extras' are great as that is what makes a Collectors Edition special.

Likewise with the soundtrack - some great mixing/additions to that will really make the music cd included in the edition stand out.

You can pre-order these limited edition items still at the www.lordoftears.com (http://www.lordoftears.com) website!

- Lawrie

PS - You're going to be tempted to ask but when - WHEN hehe - it'll be in August and it'll be when it's awesome enough to make your purchase something very special for you ;)

Hey there guys! As I'm sitting here watching a post production render rattle through the loading bar I thought heck - about time I popped over to Extreme Horror Cinema!

I want to thank you guys personally for your enthusiasm and support for Lord of Tears. I think those of you who are looking for a creepy/uncanny classic story driven ghost story are in for a treat, especially fans of Hammer etc.

As a filmmaker I hope for this film to be the first in a series of story - driven dark fantasy/supernatural thrillers produced under our own low budget label (very much like Hammer.) In fact when I eventually got into film - the inspiration to create our own wee niche brand of smart chillers really came from films like Wicker Man/Innocents/Devil Rides Out etc.

I love all types of horror but most of my filmmaking bro's are out to make standard slashers (many of which can be cool ie. Halloween) but you gotta go with the direction that inspires you - for me that's Lovecraft/Gothic/Cosmological horror.

So guys if you have any questions or just want to shoot the breeze, I'll be happy to pop in to answer some questions and share some exclusive pics etc. It was a real honor to add the Extreme Horror Cinema in the special thanks listing of the end credits yesterday :)

G'day Lawrie and thanks for popping on over and joining up  8)

AS you can see we are damned excited about the upcoming release. I remember you stating ages ago what you would love to do and it sounds great. For myself I love all sorts of horror stuff and what you have planed sounds awesome and a nice add to the genre. I love all the gore and what not but also stuff that is inspired by mythos, ancient beliefs, and anything else similar.

I seriously hope the film and future goals work out fine. You seem like a truly genuine fellow who just loves this genre.

I'm sure when our esteemed founder comes in later she will be more than stoked to see you have joined!

Hope you enjoy your stay here Lawrie : )

Oh decisions decisions! So we're looking at the packaging design for Lord of Tears atm! Right now we're looking at the choices of digipacks available. These are the card board panel type sets that fold out (commonly seen in CD and DVD variants.)

Here is an example of a 8 panel CD sized Digi Pack https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcRRSnX9tbkVYsbEoNoBB0b1GyInLuby7hz7AnoLyPLOIIkYAV4I (https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcRRSnX9tbkVYsbEoNoBB0b1GyInLuby7hz7AnoLyPLOIIkYAV4I)

Which can be very awesome (as on the back 4 panels you can often create epic sized fresco style artworks!)

Or there is the DVD sized digi-packs (which I think you'll be familiar with.) http://www.hellmanproduction.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/digipak-6p-dubai.jpg (http://www.hellmanproduction.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/digipak-6p-dubai.jpg)

Now you might be thinking - why not just go for the DVD version?

I'm in two minds. With the CD versions we can get more panels (hence more artwork) with the DVD ones we get often what feels like more plastic (larger trays) and it can get really chunky and well less compact.

This packaging will be for a film that will be the first from our new distribution company and having a unique (CD sized/ large panel number package) combines imo a quality object that is also compact / but also a little subversive and different to ordinary distribution options.

Note. These packages are not for sale in retail outlets (just through our online pre-orders.) So i'm not concerned with them sitting next to other DVD's in a shop - but perhaps you are as regards to the DVD book shelf? Or is it better to pop it in your pocket and take it to your friends house!

So guys, let me know your thoughts!

Here is another update about Lord Of Tears. What do you guys think on this?

Even though in the end it is all about viewing this movie I cannot help but think it would be snazzy to have the 8 panel so they can do something extra special art wise...especially considering a big part of the appeal for this film was the visuals along with the interesting and spooky tale.

Yep you can pre-order t-shirts and posters at www.lordoftears.com (http://www.lordoftears.com) We're working hard on the designs for them at the moment though there mostly a development based on the most popular artwork we've produced so far of the Owlman. I can't wait for my own t-shirt too!

On our FB page i'll be posting some works in progress and just open up for discussion some of the design decisions we're making etc.

I really love this owlman character too - I see him as a kinda barker-esque pinhead / daemon/angel beautifully voiced by David Schofield.

Awe check you out David! Well Stagefright is a great classic slasher movie. I liked the first poster at UHM they seemed to get the vibe (arty/horror/spooky/weird etc.) There is an amazing scene to me with Stagefright, (not any of the slashing stuff really) but remember that scene where he's sat on the chair? With all the confetti type material falling over / blowing about with the air fan. A moment like that in a film makes for such a transcendent scene - beyond the ordinary it takes the serial killer in a mask and depicts him as the very nightmare/monster he is. Is Stagefright an influence? Oh not specifically but perhaps indirectly. I remember researching first the legends and tales of gods etc to find something that would inspire me. Of the type I found (to say who precisely might spoil it?) was normally depicted as a kinda benign looking animal, which never really caught my imagination UNTIL... I found evidence of another depiction - being the owl headed figure... which blew me away. From that I combined it with an unsettling experience I had from my youth (of a masked man at a country estate dressed in morning suit tails) and thats how the Owlman came to be born! (Perhaps ridiculously he originally also had antlers but we quickly scrapped that haha!)

I messaged the Lord Of Tears gang and this is a reply I got I felt all you Owlies would be interested in : )

So keen on seeing this hence me messaging them, great people really into what they have done with putting a lot of heart into it.

You get an 8 panel digipack with full colour artwork (imagine an evil fresco depicting owlmans carnage through the ages) inside is the DVD and a Music soundtrack CD. On the DVD are extras including commentaries, deleted scenes, and a bts short interview documentary. The Music CD has about 55 mins of compositional music - you can hear a track here https://soundcloud.com/metaphorest/sleep-my-darling

In addition you get the Digital Pack, this includes an HD download of the film, and a 60k PDF/Kindle book that includes a production diary of my experience making the film and two short novellas telling scary stories of the Owlman. In addition to photos and Owlman artwork including screensavers/desktop backgrounds and other bits and bops. Oh and did I mention a physcial booklet inside the dvd package with oh 24 pages of scary weird Owlman poems and artwork

*breathes deep* aaaand there limited edition with each of em' signed by me if desired with their own custom issue number.

This is a quote from over at UHM that I felt you all would be interested in as it sounds absolutely amazing!

What do you think of this guys? For the approx 22 page printed booklet included in the DVD/CD Collectors Edition, how would you like a body of artwork text/ to include (among a couple of metaphysical abstract puzzles) the means of 'summoning' Owlman. Might be fun for any horror role-players hehe - adding something of a slice from the Owlmans own Necromonican into your pink curly fingers?

Sounds like the end package will be mind numbingly awesome!

I mean (and I'm sorry this caused some confusion) but the pricing structure doesn't automatically mean that everything cheaper is included. It's typical for a lot of Kickstarters, but we wanted to offer different goodies (that were too expensive to include with others) without selling them separately. This was largely copied over from the KS to the LOT website.

So yep, if it says you get a t-shirt you do and if it refers to the other digital goodies (production diary/digi artwork etc.) then nope  :'(

Just to be on the safe side bro though what was the name of the item you ordered?

If not, and you would like a t-shirt still, then we'll offer you a 15% discount which you can PM me for (which we'll also extend to other items such as the posters and collectors editions etc.) Also as a mark of appreciation for the support of EHC we'll extend that discount to all of EHC's forum members for the duration of our pre-order campaign! Folks wanting to order can go ahead on the website and include a message on their paypal purchase confirming their member username on the forum here. Once we receive it we'll refund the 15% discount :)

Kind Regards

So a bit more info on the 24 page booklet! It's a bit of a surprise really for the folks ordering the Collectors Edition! (Okay not the fact there is a booklet haha) but what it is that lurks within... I've had lots of queries from folks about the Owlman (what is it inspired by? Does it exist in folklore or reputedly etc.) The booklet will answer this in an albeit horrifying way.

2k words approximately of ancient and arcane historical material, esoteric and (according to one reader - quite disturbing!)

Just don't read it in the dark - (or let you're mum find it!) or she'll probably have a panic hehe!

Also listening to the soundtrack (68 mins of music!) Just need the printers to post the goodies back so I can get em' all to you now

Soon my Owlets! Soooon! (this month.)

This seriously sounds amazing and really look forwards to going through it when it arrives, love to read about mythologies and similar loses and what have you!

Hey guys!

Yep items have just been posted - DVDs and t-shirts! Can't wait for you guys to finally get your stuff! Regarding the Kickstarter estimate we had for late July (originally) I just wanted to give you guys a heads up why things took a bit longer. Basically we added more content and made extra improvements. It dawned on us just how valuable the opportunity of presenting our story was, not just in terms of the films but also as a wee very boutique distro of our films too.

In other words we wanted to take the extra time necessary to make things really special, a particular highlight might not seem obvious (but consists of this glorious 440 page interactive digital book) that comes with the movie. Or the printed booklet (which doesn't have normal boring credit info, but instead a translation of some of the most evil ancient incantations and rituals you will have ever read... all stemming from my original study of Theology and Ancient History.

So here is a pic to show you guys some goodies - and if you get a chance you can check out the new website for our work. It's in beta atm and we're not marketing it hard, but I'd love for you guys to get a peek.

Meanwhile some pics!

and my cousin Michael ;)

We got more pics and info at www.hexmedia.tv (http://www.hexmedia.tv) and appreciate if you can report any probs etc loading anything!

I'll just add, the company is run by myself, my girlfriend Sarah and my cousin Michael hehe - we're the mom and pop shop for making low budget movies and designing packages/products for em' all made with love. (I'm probably saying this as I haven't slept for 40 hours working on this and I've run out of coffee but hey ho!)

What's great about this community is it's love/respect and encouragement for independent horror - and guys I thank you for all the support, and look forward to you all getting to open your packages!

I'm guessing you mean BluRays too? Or are they taking longer?

As for the site, all running well on my side. Loading a little slow but I think that's my connection, it's been doing it to most sites today. Love the look of it too by the way.

I can't wait to get my claws into this movie. Thanks a bunch!

Our film Lord of Tears, is a classic throwback to the British Chiller... films like Hammer... movies such as 'The Innocents, The Haunting or The Wicker Man.' It's rich with story, a bit of Gothic romance and so forth.

It's the kinda spooky film, that I'd sit watching in a comfy chair by a roaring fireplace during a winter night... cosy in a blanket with a mug of hot chocolate nearby. That's the kinda experience it's gonna give you ;) That and if you have a penchant for memorable villains and surprises.

I love my gory horror movies too, but this film is a contribution towards the classic unsettling kinda ghostly horror/drama that used to really freak me out when I was a kid. I think our genre can benefit from that too!

45 hours + without sleep now - so probably time for some kip lest I ramble on!

Hey guys I'm thrilled to see all this haha - brilliant! Remember to message me guys when your Collector's Editions arrive and I'll link you to your 440 page digi books for Lord of Tears too! There gorgeous and I think you'll really like them (plus our writer Sarah Daly wrote two short Novella's including a prequel and sequel stories set with the Owlman.)

I've said this before and I'll keep saying it - Lord of Tears is like watching a ghost story from your childhood, a classic Hammer-esque kinda film, to be watched with a mug of hot chocolate by your grandad. I like to think of it as a movie that sits alongside the modern gory slashers as a throwback to the past...

But... there is an evil and malevolence in our villain that is a bit epic... a bit more disturbing/intellectual and cosmological even... That element is more adult imo despite it's guise of nostalgia. I think you guys will get that from the ancient religious texts I worked on translation for (for the Collector's Edition print booklet) - useful from my study of ancient languages back when I did my degree in Theology/Ancient History.

So I also look forward to your thoughts, I naturally appreciate the film won't be perfect but I also hope you'll enjoy some of the bits that are my favourites too! I also look forward to getting your opinions on future directions of Lord of Tears. While I can't announce specifics yet, it's most certain that we'll be seeing more from Owly in time :)

Oh that's awesome Lawrie! And I've been hanging out for a film that takes me back to scares I got watching movies as a kid. Good job. If your movie doesnt scare me I'm going to stab you LOL

Oooh that sounds nice.

However I do kinda wish to watch it for the first time alone at night; with my surround sound cranked up. Watching it while talking in a chatroom might take away some of the atmosphere.

Sounds a bit like Pinhead in his first two films. Sounds very exciting.

Yeah I read Ronnies review and I'm glad there were parts he liked but it's a shame that for him some other parts didn't work so well etc! Still appreciated the review - these ones that came in last night were way more positive.

One of them in a big print Sci - Fi magazine over here (Starburst Magazine) They actually rated our film over Insidious 2 and VHS 2 - which is a miracle really! I think it also goes to show, that if our film is specifically someones cup of tea - then it does like well... way better to them!

http://www.starburstmagazine.com/reviews/dvd-and-blu-ray-home-entertainment-reviews/6889-dvd-review-lord-of-tears (http://www.starburstmagazine.com/reviews/dvd-and-blu-ray-home-entertainment-reviews/6889-dvd-review-lord-of-tears) (8 out of 10)

We also got a review in a big UK film online news site (IMDB accredited) http://www.thehollywoodnews.com/2013/10/20/lord-tears-review/ (http://www.thehollywoodnews.com/2013/10/20/lord-tears-review/)
(4 STARS)

Thanks again guys!

If any of you guys are free on Halloween or the 1st of November (or any users on this forum) - maybe we can organise some comp/free tickets to this -

We got two events playing in Scotland - chance to meet the crew/cast/ eat a giant Owlcake and of course meet Owlman and watch a screening of the movie in a former church!

That's in the UK - to stay where this is being done is extremely cheap (Fife in Scotland is just 30mins train from Edinburgh) and about £45 - 55 a night to get a room.

Got ya! hehe and yeah I think it's uncanny, with spooky bits but that's just me!

I liked ghostly films from The Woman in Black (old one not the new one hehe) J-Horror,  and just weird uncanny stuff. See what you think, but if you like a classic but weird ghost story with cosmological elements then I think it'll do the trick!

It's a slow burner - best watched with a blanket and a mug of cocoa! hehe
Title: Re: Lord Of Tears ~ 2013
Post by: JackT on October 21, 2013, 03:43:52 AM
Sounds like my cuppa tea, mate. 3am during my witching hour, blanket, lights off, volume cranked up and a thumb stuck in my mouth.

Well OK maybe not the thumb in my mouth, but you get the picture.

Slow burn is good for me. If this movie freaks me out about the tawny frog mouth hooting outside my window at 2am, all the better.
Title: Re: Lord Of Tears ~ 2013
Post by: General Ox on October 21, 2013, 03:47:43 AM
I'm not big on the ghost genre. The only one I really like is Poltergeist (which is a slow burn).

But the imagery and lore behind this film is what sold me. I remember seeing the early concept stuff; it just looked great, a real nightmarish visual feel. And The Owlman really looks like one evil fucker. I'd shit bricks if I saw something like that out my window (A bit like that Rabbit in Donnie Darko!) And from what you've said Bewster his mannerisms sound really cool. I've always been a sucker for the well presented, and well spoken villain, such as early Pinhead, The Tall Man.

I've always liked David Schofield too, I haven't seen him a lot but he is great whenever I see him in anything, Werewolf in London, Pirates 3 and even Gladiator. So I have no doubt he'll give a great performance. God I hope this arrives tomorrow. 24 hours and hopefully I'm watching it.

Post by: Anachronism on October 23, 2013, 12:49:27 AM
I'm pretty bummed out from all this since I can't watch the film yet. Ok, so I only paid $10 to watch the film online, but last time I donated to a film on kickstarter, I donated $100 and the shipping took so long, I ended up downloading it via torrents before I ever got my DVD. Needless to say, I'm never going to donate much after that.

Still, they said it would be available for the backers to watch online this weekend, but that was nearly 2 weeks ago. Well, who was it who said that people don't remember a late delivery, only a bad one, so fingers crossed the hype won't kill this film like I am worried it will. Always sucks being the first person to say something bad about the film when all you see is gushing praise left and right.
Title: Re: Lord Of Tears ~ 2013
Post by: General Ox on October 23, 2013, 01:08:19 AM
I know they were waiting till a lot of people got their physical copies before opening the online viewings. Trying to make sure people seem to be able to watch it at a similar time.

I'm a bit worried about being so hyped for it myself, it does leave a bigger chance to be disappointed. But regardless of the film; that Owl thing is just so fucking cool so it's worth every penny I donated to it, which was $50. Plus, Lawrie and Sarah have been nothing but lovely and supportive of this place so I'm more than happy to help them in this; and future films even if they don't end up being my cup of tea.

Plus; thanks to Splat EHC is in the credits!!! :yay:

NEW REVIEW http://watchinghorrorfilmsfrombehindthecouch.blogspot.co.uk/ (http://watchinghorrorfilmsfrombehindthecouch.blogspot.co.uk/)

I mean guys, I've got the remedy for anyone anxious about the hype hehe. Just remember Lord of Tears for what it is. It's a very low budget horror, made with sincerity by lovers of the genre seeking to produce a Gothic/Romantic/Lovecraftian Horror heavy on story, with a slow pace that builds atmosphere towards some freaky shit! A film inspired by classic Victorian ghost stories and Lovecraftian lore. It's not a crazy gory movie with lots of nudity (others tick that box) but it is a movie that I believe, will invest you in its story and characters outcome... instill some dread (for the Owlman) and even some giggles (at the cute nature of our protagonist and relationships.) It'll also swing in style too challenging you in your expectations of the Genre, but in a good way imo. It's biggest influence (and worth referencing for your expectations, is the sub genre referred to as 'folk/horror.'

So, expect a slow building pace, romance, atmosphere, chills and a retro style and well... APOCALYPTIC DREAD! hehe then quite honestly I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Haha i'm rambling now, but you know the latest review we got (that I've linked at the top) pretty much nails it.

Woodenheart, I've pm'd you just so we can double check your order, and Anachronism we're actually about to imminently deal with the digital orders. That's understandable how after losing $100 you have been put off crowd-funding but hopefully you might consider supporting our next film on Kickstarter for our physical releases. Digital is convenient - BANG you get the movie, but we're aiming to give that kinda vinyl experience hehe. It's just special to receive a package with so much material, signed and even gift wrapped personally by the writer (Sarah loves to do that - it's nuts but she does hehe!)

One of the proudest and funnest moments of course is when we get to see the Extreme Horror Cinema credit roll up at the end too!

So; I just watched this. Now I'm not big on ghost movies as everyone knows. And; this is easily a very slow burn, character driven film. With atmosphere so thick you could suffocate a child to Moloch. And what an experience it was.

All that said I absolutely loved this. Some of the performances weren't exactly top notch (which was expected) but that said, it made the film that much more grounded. Putting a quirky, awkward mist in the air that is always present in those situations. Perhaps it was intentional? Either way it only makes the film so much more connectible. The film takes what you know and throws it at your face just over half way. And then the ending comes out of nowhere and grabs your balls in a vice, leaving you a little depressed and sick in the stomach. The character of James is rather likeable and you end up feeling for him; he has an odd.. 'innocence' about him. And The lady, Eve. She was utterly stunning. Her looks were rather side tracking. lol

Not a lot I can say about Schofield's lines, utterly brilliant, if I had a complaint it would be the forest scene; his voice is a tad hard to catch everything he says, but it's only that one scene. Chilling stuff; love the way he spoke; used poetic like dialogue; It did remind of the way Pinhead seems to act in his first two films. His neither good, nor evil, just extremely well presented and doing what he is meant to within his rules. Credit here must go to Sarah too, her writing is brilliant! I really hope to see what other dark and twisted stories she has to offer.

There are some great scenes of intense atmosphere, I even got goose bumps during one scene and had chills running up my back (something I haven't experienced since I watched Suspiria earlier this year, and before that I can't remember the last time it happened). I don't think there was any jump scares either. It was all jut pure atmosphere, with some chilling imagery. That's talent. I watched it with my sister; she utterly freaked in some scenes. I had to get telling her to shut up. And she has since changed her Facebook Banner Photo to Owlman.

I feel very comfortable saying this IS the best modern horror film I've seen that's been made in the last three years, since 2010, when I Saw The Devil was done. Between then, and this I haven't really liked anything much in the genre. This is contending with Poltergeist at taking the crown for my most loved Ghost-like horror film too. I was terrified my hype and excitement was going to ruin this for me; I'm ever so glad it didn't. I loved ever frame. I will without doubt fully support any future projects this team goes to.

My hat is off to you; thank you ever so much for such a beautiful film. Oh, loved your shout out to Chris Lee too. ;) And seeing EHC!!!

In a time where horror is flooded by remakes, reboots, sequels or lame "true story" films, full of pathetic jump scares; it's a breath of fresh air to see something this perfectly orchestrated and original surface from the independent market. 10/10

Oh and here is our Credit photo, HUGE thanks to Moderator Splat!!!

Hey guys. Postal service to the USA is likely to take 5 - 7 working days (it might be sooner if you're closer to NYC etc.)

That's working days so check the date when you purchased and discount any weekends. Does that mean you should be worried if you haven't received it say... on day 8? Not necessarily - US domestic services will add on time depending on where you're located. This can feel extra long if your delivery gets caught between two weekends.

We've had a guy in the USA wait 9 days and another 3 days.... and another guy in the UK (who should have got next day wait 3 days.... while another in Japan gets it in 2 days!)

So count the working days, and if you're in the USA and getting double figures post me a mail with your paypal purchase date/username and I'll double check anything :)

In the meantime... Bloody Disgusting has released a review of Lord of Tears  http://bloody-disgusting.com/reviews/3260831/bd-review-scottish-lord-of-tears-is-a-haunting-gothic-throwback-not-to-be-missed/ (http://bloody-disgusting.com/reviews/3260831/bd-review-scottish-lord-of-tears-is-a-haunting-gothic-throwback-not-to-be-missed/)

Yep I just want to add, one dear bro of mine from Australia just received his yesterday and it was posted out about 3 and a half weeks ago. Another Australian supporter for Lord of Tears got his in just over 2 weeks.

So some folks unfortunately just seem to get their delivery slower than others, so far we haven't had anyone not get it (except one chap that put the wrong address in lol - we helped him out there X )

I'm checking in just to keep an eye on how you're all doing with these orders but don't fret... just the mail service doing it's thing... very slowly... in the worst advent we always have your back.

I'll take it you haven't got your copy yet Wooden??? : /

How about you Jack?

No I haven't. I think my friend Necromancer hasn't as well. Both off us pre ordered in the KickStarter Campaign. My name is under the 30 dollar donation. This was back in March.

Nope haven't gotten it yet, but I'm a patient man :)  . I figure the postal service is a bit paranoid after 9/11 so  anything coming from across the pond will take some extra time :).  classes are kicking my ass so I'm way behind the 8 ball

I thought Australia Post was bad. UK post sure does take the cake. Remind me never to send any of you Pommies on here a postcard. You'll probably get it in ten years time and not know who the hell I am by then.

I know it really does - Australia and the UK is probably the toughest. We had one chap wait 4 weeks basically...

Then a guy in Japan get's it in like 4 days!?! How is that fair? With Airmail we're using a 'decent' UK standard (the postage would go way up.) There is a company in the USA offering UK postage for... *drum roll* $25! TWENTY BUCKS for a wee pocket book (tiny!)

So yep everytime I get an order from Australia I'm giving a wee message to let folks know to chill while Owly makes his way (because he eventually does) we've not had a single order yet not turn up. If you've waited a while and do get it (ie. about 4 weeks approx and you're in Australia/NZ) give me a heads up on the thread that you got your package :)

In the meantime feel free to pm me if you would like links to some digi goodies like the Art pack while you wait!

Also - if you're wanting to help me out with something guys - we're gonna update our trailer at www.lordoftears.com (http://www.lordoftears.com) to include little star ratings/quotes from reviews (like you see) - wonder how far we should go with a trailer re-edit?

If you like the film or trailer what could make it even more tempting ya reckon? Appreciate the feedback guys :)

We have our rating from the BBFC! The report reads that the film has been issued a 15 certificate for "strong supernatural horror!" Oooh yeah! Well that's what we're all about! We are now in the process of opening the UK orders for Collector's Editions!

We also have a new eerie trailer that will be coming out soon too - one focussing more on the creepy/story quality of Lord of Tears that I look forward to sharing - Lawrie www.lordoftears.com (http://www.lordoftears.com)

I feel like I'm never going to see it either. I had a package from India the other day that only took 3 days. UK post is an abomination. This has been a month already. Is it being delivered by an asylum seeker that our lovely deadshit prime minister wont allow into the country?

It could be that the item has simply been lost in (stolen from) the post.

Speaking as someone who lives in the UK this happens all too frequently I'm afraid. Our postal service is a fucking joke.

I dont care anymore. I was excited to buy this for myself for my birthday when I dont even celebrate it after my brother died died just before it. Now I'm just irriitated. And yes that was me being passive aggro I no longer want to see this movie. The excuses are really lame

Yeah I have to say, I'm really fucking pissed off. I will never again pay out a film maker trying to crowd fund on this forum. This has really bloody ticked me off and I will be checking my account closely.  I tried to joke about UK mail but this is fucking bullshit. It does not take 4 weeks to send a dvd from UK.

I've had a few things go missing in the UK post - usually this averages around 3-4 items a year. It's worse this time of year too, what with the Royal Mail taking on temp staff to help with the pre-Christmas postal rush.

Frustration is to be expected, as I would be the same. I don't think the film-makers themselves are to blame though, excuses or not - which are in themselves maybe just a way of instilling some kind of hope that these outstanding packages still may arrive. Unfortunately, unless you use tracked mail or a courier your goods making it to their intended destination safely is completely out of your hands when you hand them over to the postal service.

I'm really sorry with regards to your brother, Jack.

If this is true then they need to honour this.

Most places (Amazon etc.) expect you to wait for around 21 working days before they will dispatch a replacement in case the original turns up, though.

It's OK mate. Happened a few years ago.

I still dont like scam artists though. Woody paid for this months ago. Bloody ridiculous and I did actually feel a gut reaction to paying for this movie but went with Splatty's amazing review. I am now very pissed off. Awesome job, I will now never support a film maker unless I know them

Ox's review

Who knows what has happened in the end, just know people have done the right thing and still nothing. I know he is a busy guy with getting the movie out there but still these are people who assisted in the financing of this project and others who saw the excitement of all this and wanted to experience it for themselves.

I cannot see the season and whole postage thing being an issue as these should have been posted out way before then.

Again I am very sorry for this and to be honest may just lock this thread if it's ok by everyone as simply cannot see anything positive coming out of here.

reaction. It just annoys me that other people on the net might refuse to pay for a fund raiser as a result. Pretty shitty thing to do. Title: Re: Lord Of Tears ~ 2013
Post by: Lawrie Brewster on November 19, 2013, 10:00:10 PM
First of all thanks Splat for bringing this to my attention. The folks that support indie film projects like Lord of Tears mean everything to me, particularly the community on this forum.

We've actually not lost a single package in the mail yet, but we've encounted dissapointing postage times for Australia and some wild inconsistencies (not just due to Royal Mail postage but destination countries only customs/delivery times also.)

So let's sort things out - and bare in mind (and I've always said this, if worst comes to worst we got anyones back on a missing package.) It's rare but it can sometimes happen!

JACKT.
Purchased on the 21st and your item was shipped on the 23rd of October. 4 weeks or just under. At the moment (Airmail) packages from the UK to Australia are taking up to six weeks.

This can commonly occur with Airmail packages from the UK to Australia at present (which you can google etc.)

http://community.ebay.com/t5/Packaging-Shipping/Has-anyone-shipped-to-the-UK-and-Germany-lately-I-shipped-an/qaq-p/4502641 (http://community.ebay.com/t5/Packaging-Shipping/Has-anyone-shipped-to-the-UK-and-Germany-lately-I-shipped-an/qaq-p/4502641)

So apologies about the Royal Mail/ International Sorting Offices and any Australian Postal services taking their time.
However your item should be with you in the next two weeks. We have had a customer - a good friend of mine recieve his on the sixth week from Australia.

WOODENHEART
I've just spoken to our postal elf! As an origial Kickstarter supporter (and thank you so much for that) I never realised that you (by your real name) was the same individual we have been trying to email loads since the end of our Kickstarter Campaign to get your postal address.

We emailed the pa**y yahoo.com address that you supplied to Kickstarter, as well as pm'ing on Kickstarter and asking on the survey but we never got your address information at the time. You did inquire later (and referenced your address) in a pm but I never guessed you were the same as the lady Sarah was trying to contact. (Woodenheart - P**ty)

So you've been our mysterious lady we've been trying to reach and your DVD is here. As a courtesy we'll post that with some fancier Airmail to reach you sooner - going out tomorrow. (If you can just double check the address in your PM to me is the one you definatley want it sent to.)

NECROMANCER
Sarah has also emailed Necromancer//yahoo email address and on Kickstarter annnnnd on a survey on Kickstarter requesting addressed and never received a reply either! See Kickstarter does not give folks addresses automatically we actually need them manually emailed old skool.

So basically and strangely Necro and Pa**y were the only Kickstarter folks we never got addresses from but rest assured your DVD's are safe and will be posted. Necro I do still need your address if you could PM it to me and like with (Woodenheart) we'll post it faster airmail at our own expense because we know you guys supported us and we appreciate that, plus these things can happen.

Sorry mate. I cannot believe that airmail from the UK takes 6 weeks. Last time  the excuse was it was 4 weeks. If I can send a parcel from Kathmandu, the pirate mailbox from Galapagos Islands or Tibet and it gets home in 3 days then I expect mail to arrive in less than almost 2 months from the UK. Leaves a pretty sour taste in the mouth. And by the way, pirate mail from The Galapagos doesnt even go by regular airmail. Still made it back before I did flying LAN. Mail from Tibet was delivered by Yak and it still arrived before I landed in Sydney
Title: Re: Lord Of Tears ~ 2013
Post by: Lawrie Brewster on November 19, 2013, 10:20:31 PM
Hey it's alright, it's actually damned helpful because ironically I've been chatting on and off with two folks Sarah's been emailing for a while to get addresses so thank goodness that's sorted. I also understand how frustrating the post can be - atm it's just totally random it feels. We may up the price of postage to offer a faster more recorded service if folks want that. But like I say we haven't lost any packages yet and we'd never leave a customer without the product they paid for so no need for folks to get anxious about that! We're here to produce Horror movies for the rest of our lives and we want the support and friendship of our fellow fans of the genre.

Jackt I hope your package arrives soon but we haven't lost a package yet, and we've had some Australians receive them on week 6. So don't get too anxious, and even if the worst came to worst (such as the item was destroyed/lost) as can actually happen... we got your back like we do all our supporters.

Again for your attention JackT
http://community.ebay.com/t5/Packaging-Shipping/Has-anyone-shipped-to-the-UK-and-Germany-lately-I-shipped-an/qaq-p/4502641 (http://community.ebay.com/t5/Packaging-Shipping/Has-anyone-shipped-to-the-UK-and-Germany-lately-I-shipped-an/qaq-p/4502641)

6 weeks isn't the average, but I've seen it first hand and there are plenty of ebay customers in Australia that have found Airmail times taking that long unfortunately.
Title: Re: Lord Of Tears ~ 2013
Post by: JackT on November 19, 2013, 10:26:15 PM
Sorry for being a turd, Lawrie. I'm not so worried about my parcel. I'm just really pissed off about other people being turned off helping out film makers because of complaints about mail not turning up. It's very unprofessional and bad for up and coming crowd funders. Smack your mail service in the teeth
Title: Re: Lord Of Tears ~ 2013
Post by: Lawrie Brewster on November 19, 2013, 10:38:17 PM
Yeah I know it's disappointing but don't forget it's easily possible for an item to reach Australia for example (say in a week) and spend weeks in a customs/sorting depots and get a slow domestic postage out etc. Or vice a versa - there are so many postal services involved (not just one countries) and it's really the customs/sorting depots that have a massive effect on time. (After all... we know how long a flight takes to Australia... or a truck from ol' Scotland to London.)

We had one guy in Japan get his in like 4 days... and my friend in Australia take 6 weeks. Oxley is an Aussie I think and his took 2 1/2 weeks?! Then there was an American who had to wait 4 weeks, and another 1 weeks... go figure hrmph. I'd say this isn't limited to just the UK (though we're great at it) - international postage across the board seems to be getting a bit more unpredictable (standard airmail services etc.) But do folks really want to spend $20 on postage for say a guaranteed 1 - 2 week delivery? Tough balance... we might up a bit to offer recorded.

Like i say the important thing is that we haven't lost any and that even if it did happen we got folks backs.

I have friends who work in Customs, Lawrie. Unless a parcel goes to India and gets hidden under carbon paper in an office in Mumbai it does not get lost for weeks. Your mail service is lying to you, mate.

Doesnt matter. I'm over it. I'll stop being a bitch

I don't know what you expect me to say? You got Royal Mail, Australian domestic Mail and customs and international sorting depots both sides of the pond. Oz get's his in 2 weeks and my mate gets his in 6... same countries same postal services - should there be a difference no? Mail should arrive asap and on time but it doesn't. I don't know why it doesn't either... what I can say is that there isn't any kind of postal conspiracy against you and that I hope your package arrives soon :)

Righto Woodenheart and Necromancer - you guys are my guinea pigs for a more expensive postage (Airsure) as they call it in the UK, a bit prohibitively expensive really ($15 approximate) but that's your packages away now. It includes a tracking number, will be curious to see how long it takes to arrive compared to standard Airmail!

You're acting like a three year old "Never supporting a film maker again unless I know them." Fuck. Maybe if you messaged Lawrie nicely reminding him (as he his very busy) instead of slagging him off he'd would jave likely had another sent. Were I him after the shit you said I'd just be saying thanks for the money. You're lucky he is more tolerant than I.

Nobody needs to be disrespecting the other now. The situation has been resolved. As it turns out Lawrie and his crew have been trying to contact me for awhile,n so they could mail the dvd to me. What they didn't know was that I couldn't access the email address they were provided with any more for whatever reason. I didn't know they were trying to get a hold of me to get a mailing address because of it.  The email addy is probably loaded with a ton of emails from Lawrie to this day. Lawrie was kind enough to mail the dvd at an extra expense to him which he really didn't need to do. Regular mail would have sufficed.
Since it is indeed resolved at this point and time we should drop the issue altogether and move on.

Thanks Lawrie you've gone above and beyond in getting your work out.

Hey guys you can all relax it's okay. I appreciate the passionate defence Ox, compassion from Necro and even Jacks frustrations were born out of a desire to see a film their excited about, in which I'm privileged to have be 'Lord of Tears.'

Folks here in this forum are supporting indie horror of all types, from gory stuff to Gothic/cosmological supernaturalism - I mean that's a really open minded and cool place to be at.

So... don't get angry at one another by my account, let's move on and chat about what we love - horror/fantasy and filmmaking.

On that score I have some goodies to discuss.

First of all we have a new trailer - NEW! LORD OF TEARS - 2nd OFFICIAL TRAILER (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3TG5OJAkJE#ws)

Secondly (and unfortunately this is UK only) we have a special XMAS edition of Lord of Tears. Basically it comes in red wrapping with a custom Owlman XMAS card made out to who ever the purchaser wishes (with a hand or talon hehe scrawled message from Owlman - each one is unique and crafted from Sarah's (and Owlman's dark mind!)

We also have an offer where x2 get's a free mystery gift I've crafted, and x3 get's a tshirt. We've kept this to UK as when it concerns gifts for other people and XMAS we can't take any chances.

Juuuuust Necromancer and JackT to go... I'm hoping for both of you it arrives soon. US deliveries have been averaging 2 - 4 weeks with most coming in the later atm. The fancier delivery with Woodenheart was way quicker so I'm keen to see how Necro does.

JackT this must be frustrating as you'll just want to see the film too, so I can sort you out with access to the digital version while you wait (if you want) but... so much of the experience for this film and what it represents comes from the lovely package that I'd almost suggest waiting still. For you I'd say this week and next are crunch time for your delivery.

I've had some very exciting news regarding our film (from Bizarre Magazine and Ain't it Cool News) but can't say more than that!!!! Argh)

Nope nothing yet, but as you've said the mail takes it's sweet time, and I'm fully aware of that as well. There is no love lost between me and the postal service because of stuff coming in and going out. I'm surprised Netflix hasn't cancelled me......

Nothing impresses me with the postal service. Anyway the dvd will get here when it gets here. It's out of our hands, and there's nothing we can do about it at this point.

Yep it's amazing how fast Woodenheart's was, be really curious to see when yours makes it Necro, (on tracking it says it was transferred to the US postal service about 3 days ago. Probably means sorting department etc.)

Like I say for JackT it should really arrive any day or sometime next week (we've not had any take longer than 6 weeks.) So definitely give us a shout when yours does arrive.

Ugh... righto. Airsure certainly delivered to the USA quicker than standard Airmail (but it is x2 as expensive.) Will have to think a bit there... thanks for the updates and Necro I'll mail you the digi content. Just JackT left now :)

Tonight was the night. I had a date with this film, Lord of Tears.

I opened my window, lights off..the cool pre winter air filling my room, my blanket covers me..I was ready....

First, a beautiful looking film. The cinematography amazing. All the characters, interesting, likeable..very cool.
I reached my comfort zone..then all of a sudden..that feeling, that wonderful feeling in the pit of my stomach, then it starts traveling..I'm there. One with the movie. Nothing else matters..YES!

The spoken word from the Owlman was just utterly brilliant, it sent chills throughout me. My heart racing with excitement, I want more. The words he said, were amazing.  :red_heart:
The scenes in the bathroom with Eve, were visually awesome. I watched this film but I also felt it.
The scenes in the bedroom with Evie..just wow. The music, the visuals, a combination for perfection. The ending scene with Owlman, just..ummm..haunting!

Thank you Lawrie and Sarah for putting your thoughts and talents on film. Sharing your visions with us mere mortals. Ha! This film devoured me with its beauty. I wanna stay in 'this place' I am right now..forever. : )

I cannot add to what wooden states about this film but I can state something I got from the special features…that is the passion and honesty behind this film I felt in my heart! I was touched at a deeper level and knew I was experiencing something special with this film…I lack the words wooden shared so shall keep it at this!

That is an amazing write up, the team here is delighted that you enjoyed it Wooden and really got what the film is trying to be and is about. As a unique and different sorta Horror film it's great to see it find a place in the hearts of folks within the genre.

Awe I look forward to reading what Necro thought too and JackT, this is basically d-day week for your package, if it doesn't arrive we'll be talking about what we can do :)
Title: Re: Lord Of Tears ~ 2013
Post by: Necromancer on December 02, 2013, 08:49:44 PM
Well I'm not one for words like Wooden is, but I will say that I loved the film. Definitely unique, but the style is familiar as well. which directors inspired you to become a director yourself?  Definitely interested in your response. I have a couple directors in mind but I'm probably off in left field somewhere

I have watched the film 4 times and I can't find a bad thing to say about the film. Actually very surprised that this is on par with the quality work that the mainstream films produce. Very well done.
Title: Re: Lord Of Tears ~ 2013
Post by: Lawrie Brewster on December 03, 2013, 02:57:46 AM
Oh I mean hehe, I'd love to know what directors you had in mind Necromancer?

For me there is quite a mixture and the directors that have inspired me probably include some obvious folks,

Akira Kurosawa (Ikiru, Redbeard are incredible dramas, and who doesn't love Seven Samurai hehe?)

Ken Russell (his 60s/ early 70s work, for example The Devils and The Music Lovers, though interestingly he did move into horror in his later career, probably known mostly in the USA from 80s films during the more difficult part of his career, such as Altered States and perhaps Lair of the White Worm?

Stanley Kubrick The Shining... Clockwork Orange... and just about anything else he's done hehe. Perhaps an obvious choice for any filmmaker hehe!

Ben Wheatley Kill List, A Field in England etc.

I've also got a lot of love for Hideo Nakata, Takeshi Shimazu, Takashi Miiike and Sion Sion (Suicide Club anyone?) So the whole J-Horror (and by extension actually Korean Horror by films like A Tale of Two Sisters etc.)

It's harder to think of directors in particular than films as I have a really mixed selection. I had a pretty cool article of this sort on Tyson's Carters blog  http://headinavice.com/2013/02/28/desert-island-films-lawrie-brewster/ (http://headinavice.com/2013/02/28/desert-island-films-lawrie-brewster/)

Title: Re: Lord Of Tears ~ 2013
Post by: Necromancer on December 03, 2013, 08:13:56 AM
Ok yep Ken Russell - loved both Altered States and Lair of the White Worm.
I was thinking maybe David Lynch ( Eraserhead, Mulholland Drive, Dune ) had a strong influence on you as well. Probably wrong on that one
Title: Re: Lord Of Tears ~ 2013
Post by: Lawrie Brewster on December 03, 2013, 10:38:27 AM
Believe it or not (and this may shock you hehe) I've never actually as yet seen a David Lynch film.

(I run the risk of getting very boring now... so forgive me if I do)

For me it's literature and traditional storytelling that's worked to inspire me rather than particular art house styles. Though Lord of Tears is slightly arty, it perhaps seems more so only because of the current trend in very 'finite' commercial storytelling. Lord of Tears has a Gothic 50/60s feel with a slight 70s Don't Look Now edge to it. In literature authors such as M R James, Henry James and H P Lovecraft were big influences too.

Most filmmakers can develop outwith intellectual inspiration, for example they grew up loving director A and follow a career path forever aping them. This is particularly the case with film directors who can be almost anti-intellectual as regards to the arts (perceiving themselves as aggressive/entertainers only.)

A lot of film students love David Lynch and any Film Academic professor can tell you, that his influence causes for a litany of poor inspired copies hehe.

For me with Lord of Tears, the films that were influential mainly, consisted of The Innocents (which I adore) and The Haunting, along with the book Wuthering Heights, and and a range of J-Horror and Del Toro fare :)

At the moment we'll focus on building his dark following...

It's amazing. Youd should check it out, have a look at my review if you want. It's in the review section. And I'm even quoted in the trailer. :pirate:

But yeah, it's a very atmospheric film. Not a blood shedding one. It's dark, spooky and thick with character. A slow burn, with a nice pay-off and interesting mythology.

It actually spooked me a bit while watching it. Hairs stood up on my neck. Only two films have done that in the last few years, that I can recall. This, and Suspira. And it doesn't rely on stupid jump scares. It's genuinely creepy.

You just made my expectations jump tenfold throwing around a Suspiria comparison like that.

I mention it in my review too, as well as compare Owlman to early Pinhead. The director told me how much he loved I made that connection.

I guess it isn't a film for everyone.. But most I've seen have liked it, I've showed it to a few friends and they've all seemed to like it too. I've seen people diss it, but they seem to be in the minority.

Yes you do  Great movie and Lawrie is an awesome go as well, in fact he is a member here and was quite active. We are in the credits and Gen. Ox is quoted on the regular DVD release as well I believe.

Looks like Lord of Tears has been picked up by a major cult label in the UK: 88 Films.

I re-watched this yesterday, with the commentary by Director Lawire Brewster! It was actually a pretty good commentary track too. And it opened my eyes to a lot more symbolism in the film that I wasn't aware of.

Owlman ruuuuules.

This film has been on my mind lately. I need to rewatch this. It was planned for Halloween but I went underground/indie. Just because Halloween is over doesn't mean HowlMan can't visit me.  :) I feel it as a Autumn film anyway. I think it was released in November.

I'd wait people. Lawrie is working on a new edition. He's shown me the artwork and packaging. It looks absolutely beautiful. A lot of extra features too.

I'm not exactly sure when it's being released. His kickstarter for his next film (which is looking fucking awesome) is launching in December or late this month from memory. A few things coming from HEX Studios.

I'm a cheap cunt though (especially when it comes to films I've never seen before) so will probably just rent the UK release or I may be tempted to blind-buy it if it's under a fiver.
