Some Animation
« on: June 12, 2017, 09:48:55 AM »
Here's some stuff I've done.  I'm working towards making a short film for my comic.  It will take time to get there but I'm slowly making progress.

I made a promo trailer for the comic which has some 3D shots in it -

A couple years ago I tried making a horror/comedy cartoon - [/quote]

I made 12 minutes of animation, only to find out it's harder to get people to look at animation than webcomics, and that's saying something.  So it went unfinished but if you like exploding butts it might be funny -

I'm more interested in realism than cartoon these days, but it's a tough sell all the way around.

I keep soldiering on but for some reason this is not a popular genre for webcomics.  Go figure, when I started I thought horror would be huge on the internet.

Or a lot of nightmares.  The first graphic novel was too much for most people.  I thought people liked body horror more.

Me too!

Man, I just don't get it!  When I was growing up my sister and her friends were all about body horror films.  I read later that it is some kind of psychological preparation for young women to deal with the trauma of child birth and the potential for death.  I can't imagine that audience would ever disappear.  I've gotten a good percentage of female readers for my work but altogether not what I expected.  It seems to me like the internet would be the place for horror fans, but it appears to be the opposite.  Go figure.

Just keep pushing at it and do your own thing.

I'm soldiering on it just hurts to think how much less I'm going to get done in my life having to do this on the side.  I'm sure everyone feels the same.

Thanks!  I have to admit I'm in an awkward place trying to write the 2nd book so it stands alone, but not annoy readers from the first book by repeating everything.  And not making too many spoilers for the first book.  I'm not making the first book freely available again though.  I got too much negativity from people who didn't like the violence.

Finished revamping my first promo video -

It took too much re-rendering to get the caustic effects right, but it was well worth it and worth learning.

You should go to a Comic Con and show that stuff off.

As others have said before, it looks amazing, very artistic. I also would have thought that a lot of people would like body horror or horror in gral much more, especially at this time where one has the feeling that almost everyone is accustomed to seeing everything almost all the time, but apparently by what you say is not so. In any case your work is admirable.

I'd love to but they're a little expensive.  I have to build this over the internet.

AFAIK horror is as popular in film and games as ever, I just haven't figured out what's going on with it on the internet.  Maybe horror fans are too busy looking at real gore sites to bother with drawings of gore?  Maybe all the horror fans are on facebook and twitter and don't use forums anymore?

I am not a specialist in this field, but if I had to guess I would say that it is for the second reason that you name, I think that many horror fans don't participate in forums as maybe in another era used to do. I have participated in forums for many years now, and even at that time you could notice how little by little we were less and less, unfortunately facebook and all the rest of those social media have taken over almost everything, and many people prefer to remain on that platform. Few seem to want to venture beyond what they know. A real pity.
